On Saturday we visited the Château du Rivau for their Fête de Jardin.
The garden is perfect for little kids with big imaginations: you will encounter all manner of “enchanted” creatures (above and below).
And works of art.
This was my favourite “folie” but there’s much, much more to see, including all sorts of play areas for kids.
Once you’ve visited the gardens you can tour a few rooms in the château.
The owners have mixed amusing pieces of contemporary art among the stuffed taxidermy trophy heads.
The disco monster? 😉
A crown by artist, Vincent Olinet.
A cerf queen by artist, Katia Bourdarel.
There’s a room dedicated to local hero and Rivau visitor, Jeanne d’Arc, including this portrait of Sarah Bernhardt dressed as Joan.
And this art installation, “Joan’s Room” by François Andès.
My favourite plus for the kiddies is that you can rent Princess and Squire costumes for 3 euros, so that your children can dress up for their visit.
Rivau is a great family add-on if you’re heading to the Loire Valley to visit wineries or the châteaux of the Loire.
